Apprenticeships

Bank of England Apprenticeship

This higher apprenticeship trains you to manage a branch or number of branches for a bank, building society, credit union or a business/commercial/customer relationship manager.

Training opportunities

The role of the branch manager includes:

  • supervising staff
  • ensuring employees’ salaries are paid and that
  • ensuring employees’ leave and other entitlements are provided
  • customer satisfaction

The role of the business/commercial/customer relationship manager works with the financial institution’s corporate clients. Depending on the size of the company, the relationship manager may recommend more products and provide business advice that will benefit the business client.

If you complete the higher apprenticeship, you can progress to membership of the IFS School of Finance or the Chartered Banker Institute. This progression can lead to a specialist role in banking. It’s also possible to enter a higher education course in a subject related to banking, insurance, or other financial services.
